Sabbath times by city
When the Sabbath begins on Friday and ends on Saturday depends on the sunset where you live. Pick your city for every week of 2026 and 2027, plus a calendar file for your phone.
The Sabbath runs from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday. Sunset can be more than four hours apart between midsummer and midwinter in the north, so a church that prints "6:00 PM" all year would be wrong most weeks. Each page below lists the exact sunset times for the year, allows for daylight saving, and says how far apart the earliest and latest weeks are.

Questions people ask
When does the Sabbath begin and end?
Seventh-day Adventists keep the Sabbath from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday. Because sunset moves through the year and from place to place, the clock time changes every week.
Why sunset and not a fixed time?
The Bible counts the day from evening to evening, and most Adventist churches read that as sunset to sunset. A fixed clock time would drift away from the sunset in summer and winter.
Do all churches use the same sunset time?
Almost all use the calculated sunset for their area. A few conferences publish their own table, and some churches begin a few minutes early. Follow whatever your church or conference prints.
How accurate are the times on this site?
They come from the standard solar formulas and are normally within a minute of an almanac for the same place. Nearby towns differ by roughly a minute for every 15 to 20 kilometres of east or west distance.
Can I put the times in my phone calendar?
Yes. Every place has a calendar file with the start and the end of each Sabbath for two years. Open the file on your phone or computer and your calendar app will add them.
My town is not listed. What should I do?
Pick the closest place and read the note about distance on its page. If your church would like its own page, tell us the town and we will look at adding it.
